These are beautiful collagraphs! I wonder if you can help me, I have been creating some prints but keep finding the paper sticks to the plate, would you know why this might be? I have been wetting the paper first and blotting it. Many Thanks Kate
Hi Kate, thanks for your comment, so pleased you like the prints! How do you make your plates? After I have built a plate I varnish it (I just use standard cheap floor varnish). Then, when it's dry I rub it over with vegetable oil on a soft rag, just a little. I think this step is what stops the paper sticking. I soak and blot my paper too. Very occasionally I might get a plate (or part of one) that sticks to the paper but it's rare. Hope this helps!
...and welcome to Sharon's Pics! Painting, drawing and printmaking inspired by the natural world is my thing - I love the challenge and it's great to see the subjects coming to life on the paper or canvas. I never get bored of it.
I also have another blog, Cambridgeshire nature notes, where you'll find drawings, sketches, studies, photos and general rambling on about the natural world as I find it...
