Sketching from photos

Trying to keep in the good habit of regular sketching, so I've been doing some from photo refs, sketched from the computer monitor.

Both A4, blue biro on sketchbook cartridge-type paper - my niece and nephew :-)

  1. This is a great way to practice sketching and I do this a lot! Also from the telly too, to get used to people moving. News readers are great for this because they move, but not a lot, lol! Your sketches are wonderful! And by the way, thanks so much for spotting the typo - I hadn't noticed :0o!

    1. Ta Sandra! Newsreaders - never thought of that one, that's a great idea! Will have to give it a go. Typos - the bane of my life, lol!

  2. Sorry I haven't been by in a while. Long family visit is my excuse. They came for two weeks. It took two weeks to get ready and now two weeks to recover. I like these sketches Sharon. I believe in sketching from photographs. I like Sandra's idea of sketching from TV, but haven't had much luck because I kept choosing the programs we were watching and not the news people--or the stock market people (yawn). Excellent idea from her. I'm going to try it. You've come a long way since I started following you. Daily yields the best results. Hard to keep up though. It's a mind-set.

    1. Hi Linda, thanks for stopping by - it's good to catch up with family, even if it does put the art on hold temporarily! I'm still loving the sketching and drawing and feel like I'm making at least some progress (I think a lot of it is just building confidence!) I like that it doesn't take up a lot of time - I can 'keep my hand in' easily while thoughts for larger painting projects are floating around my head...
